The Decorah Music Boosters award annual camp scholarships to Decorah music students to help defray costs for those students interested in attending a summer music camp. There are many excellent summer music programs offered at a variety of colleges in Iowa and throughout the United States.  It is the hope of the music faculty that some of our high school and middle school music students will want to participate in one of these music camp experiences.

Guidelines: High School

The Music Boosters has allocated monies to be awarded to students in the amount of $150.00 (one week camp) and $200 (2 weeks or more) per scholarship. Students interested in attending summer music camp should see their director to get a listing of music camps offered during the summer.

The following guidelines will be followed in selecting camp scholarship recipients:

1. Applicants must currently be in High School.
2. Camp scholarships will be awarded with priority given to first-time applicants.
3. In the event that more than four students apply for the scholarships, priority will be given to:

a. Older students.
b. Students who have previously applied for the scholarship (but did not receive it).
c . Students who have attended camp in the past.

4. The scholarship money will be sent directly to the college where the camp is being held and will be credited to the student’s balance due.

Guidelines: Middle School

This year the Music Boosters will be awarding camp scholarships to Decorah Middle School students to help defray costs for those students interested in attending the Dorian Summer Music Camp at Luther College. The Booster scholarships will be in the amount of $150.00 each.These middle school scholarships are intended to encourage our students to participate in summer music camp at Luther.

The following guidelines will be followed in selecting camp scholarship recipients:

1. Applicants must currently be in the 6th, 7th, or 8th grade.
2. Camp scholarships will be awarded with priority given to first-time applicants.
3. Priority will be given to:

a. Older students.
b. Students who have previously applied for the scholarship (but did not receive it).
c. Students who have attended camp in the past.

4. The scholarship money will be sent directly to Luther College and will be credited to the student’s balance due.

The attached application form should be filled out by the student, signed by parents or guardians, and mailed to Decorah Music Boosters PO Box 105 Decorah, IA 52101 as soon as possible.  Scholarship recipients will be selected by several members of the Music Boosters board. Check with your teacher for application deadlines.
